Creature-assisted harvesting

Doedicurus Stone Harvest

Stone is used in large quantities for building and crafting stations; a Doedicurus can gather it with less direct harvesting.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Stone-rich areas on The Island. Select a location with a practical path back to your base or staging area.

A Doedicurus can gather stone autonomously, including while an Argentavis carries it. This makes the tame useful for a repeatable stone collection loop: take it to a suitable stone area, allow it to gather, then collect and haul the output back to base. Keep the tame protected and check its inventory rather than assuming it can carry an unlimited load.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A tamed Doedicurus.
  • An Argentavis if you plan to carry the Doedicurus while it gathers.
  • A safe route and enough carrying capacity for the stone you collect.
  1. Choose a stone-rich area within a route you can safely travel, or use the resource map to plan around marked deposits.
  2. Bring the Doedicurus to the gathering area; if using an Argentavis, carry it to the chosen area.
  3. Allow the Doedicurus to gather autonomously, including during the carry where applicable.
  4. Land or stop and inspect the Doedicurus's inventory to see how much stone it has collected.
  5. Transfer the stone to the carrier or your own inventory while tracking weight.
  6. Return the Doedicurus and stone to base, using the safer route rather than extending the trip for more nodes.
  7. Unload stone into storage for building or crafting.

Farming tips

  • Autonomous gathering does not mean automatic delivery: check the inventory and make a deliberate transfer before returning.
  • Harvest-only mode is available for Doedicurus in ASA; use the mode when you want gathering without ordinary combat behavior.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the gather, inventory check, transfer, and return loop whenever your stone stores run low. Each outing is a new collection; it is not a one-time reward.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the Doedicurus in an unsafe area while it gathers: watch for nearby threats and retrieve it promptly.
  • Assuming the Argentavis's carry solves all weight limits: check both creatures' inventories and capacity.
  • Returning without transferring the collected stone: unload the Doedicurus before the next outing.

When to stop or switch

Stop gathering once you have enough stone for the current building batch, either creature is nearing a safe load limit, or the area becomes dangerous.
