A planned map run can combine selected resources into a prepared expedition with a defined return.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The Island resource map's Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Oil, and Silica Pearl overlays.
Use The Island resource map to build a focused route around the materials you actually need. The map marks Metal, Crystal, Obsidian, Oil, and Silica Pearls, but combining several kinds of gathering only works when the terrain, equipment, and carrying plan fit together. Choose a small compatible set, verify each approach in game, and return before the load or route becomes unsafe.
Access to the resource map and a way to navigate in game.
A mount or carrying capacity suited to the selected materials.
Protection and supplies matched to each chosen biome or underwater segment.
Identify the resource you need most and enable its layer on The Island resource map.
Add a second resource only if its location and route fit the same safe outing.
Mark a staging point and return path; account for whether the run includes a mountain, cave, or underwater segment.
Travel using recognizable landmarks and compare your in-game mini-map with the intended map location.
Harvest only the chosen nodes, checking load and supplies between locations.
Skip any marker whose access is more dangerous than the value of the extra material.
Return along the planned route and unload or process the gathered resources at base.
Farming tips
ASA mini-map and full-map waypoint displays can disagree, so treat them as navigation aids that need in-game confirmation.
A single-resource trip is often easier to manage when the deposits require different protection or mounts.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat as a planning method whenever you need another resource load; the nodes are gathering targets, while each successful trip depends on the selected route and conditions.
Common mistakes
Adding every nearby marker to one trip: keep the route compatible with your equipment and capacity.
Following a waypoint without checking in game: use terrain landmarks and verify your mini-map position.
Returning with materials that need processing but no plan for it: identify the forge or crafting destination before leaving.
When to stop or switch
Stop adding destinations when the route crosses into a different hazard or your load limits the return; complete the safe segment and head home.
