WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Oil Nodes
Oil deposits marked on The Island resource map, including underwater nodes. Choose a surface or underwater cluster suited to your equipment.
Before you go
- A pick or suitable harvesting tame for the selected deposit.
- For underwater nodes, water-breathing and cold-water protection appropriate to the route, or an aquatic tame.
- A return plan and carrying capacity for oil.
Farming steps
- Select the Oil layer on The Island resource map and choose a deposit type you can reach safely.
- Prepare for the actual terrain: equip for the cold or water exposure of your route and decide how you will retreat.
- Navigate to the cluster using in-game landmarks and confirm your position before beginning.
- Harvest exposed oil rocks or collect from underwater oil nodes as appropriate to the chosen site.
- Check your remaining supplies and carry weight after collecting a portion of the load.
- Leave by your prepared route while you still have the ability to return safely.
- Store oil at base or use it in the intended refining or crafting process.
- The mapped resource layer identifies deposits, but it does not confirm that your equipment or mount is suitable for the approach.
- Underwater runs need a clear exit plan before you enter the water; do not improvise one with a loaded inventory.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the selected node-to-base loop when oil is needed. Each trip gathers more raw oil; any further processing or crafting is a separate step.
Common mistakes
- Treating surface and underwater nodes as interchangeable trips: match protection and transport to the specific route.
- Going underwater without an exit plan: establish the return path before collecting.
- Confusing raw oil with gasoline: process or craft it at base according to the recipe you need.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough oil for the next processing or crafting batch, your supplies are running low, or the return route is no longer safe.
