WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Produce Fertilizer with a Dung Beetle

A secure Dung Beetle pen near your crop plots or fertilizer storage.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Keep the tamed beetle in a secure location where you can inspect its inventory.
  2. Collect animal feces and place the intended input into the beetle's inventory.
  3. For a Massive Animal Feces input, use the inventory-loaded production method described in the recorded farming facts.
  4. Allow the beetle to process the input, then check its inventory for fertilizer output.
  5. Transfer finished fertilizer to a nearby crop plot or storage container.
  6. Add fertilizer to plots that need it and check their crop information afterward.
  7. Repeat the input and collection cycle as more feces becomes available.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable production: supply feces, allow conversion, collect fertilizer, and refill plots. Output depends on input and production conditions; do not treat a single batch as an unlimited supply.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving finished fertilizer in the beetle: inspect and transfer output to plots or storage.
  • Assuming the crop has fertilizer because the beetle produced some: check the plot itself and refill it as needed.
  • Using a production detail for Massive Animal Feces as a guarantee for every feces input: verify output in the beetle's inventory.

When to stop or switch

Stop feeding inputs when storage and plots have enough fertilizer for the current farm; resume when plot displays show the supply is low.
