Astronium is a distinct planetary resource, and a core-region expedition can replenish it after surface runs are exhausted.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Planetary core regions, reached by a marked descent route or gateway chamber approach.
Treat a trip toward a planetary core as a planned expedition rather than an improvised deep dig. Astronium occurs in core regions, while the path and resource placements vary between planets. Bring a way to handle hard terrain, maintain oxygen, and mark a route you can follow back. Collect the resource nuggets and carry them to a safe base for storage or later use.
Terrain Tool; bring a Drill Module if the route includes terrain too hard to dig normally.
Oxygen and power plan for a deep expedition.
A way to mark the descent and return path.
Storage capacity for Astronium nuggets.
Choose a planet and identify a descent route toward its core using a gateway chamber approach or a prepared shaft.
Set up oxygen coverage and make the route recognizable before descending farther.
Use the Terrain Tool, adding a Drill Module where hard terrain prevents progress.
Search the core region for visible Astronium clusters rather than assuming every route intersects one.
Mine the cluster and collect the Astronium nuggets into available storage.
Return along the marked route, keeping the same oxygen plan in use on the ascent.
Unload the collected Astronium at your base and reserve it for the use you have planned.
Farming tips
Mark turns and junctions as you descend; a readable route helps with both the return and future trips.
Carry enough storage for the expected trip, but turn back if your oxygen or power plan becomes uncertain.
Repeat, collect and use
Core expeditions can be repeated for additional Astronium when accessible clusters remain. Each mined cluster is a finite find; this is not a guaranteed timed respawn farm.
Common mistakes
Descending without a return route: mark the shaft or gateway approach as you go and retrace it on the way out.
Assuming Astronium is a Soil Centrifuge output: it must be collected from planetary deposits.
Pushing past oxygen coverage: extend your tether or other supply deliberately, and turn back before losing a safe return.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have the Astronium required for your current plan, or sooner if the marked route, oxygen, or power setup no longer supports a safe return. Switch to a shallower resource run if the core path is unclear.
