Advance a displayed Exotic mission catalyst objective
The Exotic mission entry in the Director’s Activities area, with its current objective and reward details.
Before you go
- Access to an Exotic mission currently available to your character.
- A catalyst objective shown for that mission or its reward details.
- A loadout and, if desired, fireteam of up to three suited to the selected difficulty.
Farming steps
- Open the Director’s Activities area and select an Exotic mission you can access.
- Read the mission details and confirm that they list the catalyst objective you want.
- Review the objective wording and any stated difficulty or completion conditions.
- Choose a difficulty your character or fireteam can complete reliably.
- Launch the mission and follow its objectives through the required encounter or completion condition.
- Claim the displayed activity payout and inspect the catalyst tracker or item details.
- If progress remains, confirm the objective is still active before starting another eligible run.
- When the tracker completes, use the in-game catalyst or item prompt to finish the listed step.
- Keep the catalyst objective visible in your own checklist so you can verify whether the run advanced it.
- Do not treat a weapon reward preview as proof that catalyst progress is included.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat only while the displayed catalyst requirement remains incomplete and the mission remains available. Catalyst progress or a catalyst reward is not guaranteed by an unrelated mission clear.
Common mistakes
- Launching a different Exotic mission; select the one tied to the displayed catalyst objective.
- Assuming any clear satisfies the catalyst condition; check the exact objective and tracker.
- Continuing after the tracker is complete; inspect the catalyst item for any remaining in-game step.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the catalyst objective is complete and the catalyst is applied or finished as directed in game, or when the mission no longer lists that objective.
