Hellforge rune and gem quest reward
Hellforge in Act IV, reached through the River of Flame during the quest that requires Mephisto’s Soulstone.
Before you go
- Reach Act IV in the difficulty you want to complete.
- Have Mephisto’s Soulstone from campaign progression.
- Be able to survive the River of Flame and Hellforge area in that difficulty.
Farming steps
- Advance the Act IV quest until you have the Soulstone and access to the Hellforge.
- Travel through the River of Flame to the Hellforge.
- Clear nearby monsters so you can complete the quest safely.
- Place the Soulstone on the forge and strike it with the Hellforge Hammer.
- Collect the rune and gems that appear on the ground.
- Return to town and store the rune by its intended runeword or upgrade use.
- Complete the quest in each difficulty during campaign progression; the reward is not a repeatable boss drop.
- Make room before striking the forge so runes and gems are easy to collect.
Repeat, collect and use
One completion per character per difficulty; the reward is limited and cannot be reset by making another game.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the Soulstone or hammer behind; verify both quest items before heading to the forge.
- Assuming the reward can be farmed repeatedly; use it as a one-time supply for each difficulty.
- Fighting the forge area without clearing threats; secure the area before completing the interaction.
When to stop or switch
Stop once the quest reward is collected; switch to repeatable area or boss routes for additional runes and gems.
