Lair Keys let eligible characters claim boss Hoards tied to target-specific reward pools.

Lair Boss keys
Key rewards may come from Helltides, World Bosses, Legion Events, War Plans and Tree of Whispers caches; lairs are marked on the map.
Before you go
- Torment I or higher for Hoard claims.
- Access to one or more listed endgame activities.
- A boss whose displayed reward pool is useful to your character.
Farming steps
- Check your inventory and identify which Lair Keys you have.
- Choose an activity from the available key sources that you can complete efficiently.
- Finish that activity and collect any key it actually awards.
- Open the map and inspect boss lair details to match your key with a target pool.
- Travel to the lair and defeat the boss; do not spend the key to start the encounter.
- Use the matching key on the Hoard and collect its reward.
- Save keys for bosses whose pools contain useful rewards for your build.
- In group play, plan each player’s own key supply and Hoard claim.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat key-producing activities as needed. This is a renewable endgame loop, but individual activities do not guarantee a key each time.
Common mistakes
- Trying to use a key to start the fight: defeat the boss first, then open its Hoard.
- Farming an irrelevant boss: inspect its reward pool before traveling.
- Attempting a Hoard below Torment I: reach the required difficulty before building a key stockpile.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough keys for planned Hoards or obtain the target; move to the activity that supplies your next bottleneck.
