Before you go
- Odyssey access and an Artemis suit with Genetic Sampler.
- A ship with Discovery Scanner and Detailed Surface Scanner.
- A landable body with biological signals.
- A route back to Vista Genomics before carrying unsold data into danger.
Farming steps
- Use the Discovery Scanner and FSS to find bodies with biological signals.
- Map a promising body with the DSS and inspect its biology regions.
- Land near a region and locate a sampleable organism using the Artemis suit.
- Collect the first sample and use the sampler's indicator to guide the next distinct sample location.
- Travel until the species diversity requirement is met, then collect the remaining valid samples.
- Confirm that the set is complete before changing to another species; repeat for additional signals.
- Return to a concourse with Vista Genomics and sell the completed data.
- Species colony ranges differ; let the sampler confirm whether a new sample is distinct enough.
- A planet without a First Footfall tag may be a candidate for an unclaimed first landing, but it does not guarantee a first logged biology payout.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat for each uncompleted species on each suitable planet. A completed set is a limited collection for that species and location, not an infinite loop; seek another species or world for additional data.
Common mistakes
- Taking samples from the same species too close together; move until the sampler accepts genetic diversity.
- Switching species with an incomplete set; finish the required samples first.
- Assuming first-log value from an empty footfall field; verify the live record and payout after sale.
When to stop or switch
Stop sampling a species once its set is complete. End the trip and sell when the value of the data or the risk of carrying it makes further landings unattractive.
