- A ship with Detailed Surface Scanner to identify a Planetary Mining Location.
- Room to carry the Rhino and return its cargo for later use or sale.
- A landable planet with a reachable location.
Farming steps
- Inspect the Rhino equipment list and confirm the deposit scanner, refinery and rig deployment module are fitted.
- Use a ship's Detailed Surface Scanner to find a Planetary Mining Location on a landable planet.
- Travel to the marker, land and deploy the Rhino.
- Select the Planetary Mining Deposit Scanner and scan visible deposits using the vehicle's active prompts.
- Review the scan result before choosing whether to deploy a mining rig at that deposit.
- Follow the rig module prompts to deploy, then monitor the Rhino interface for extraction and collection status.
- Check refinery and cargo displays to confirm what has become stored output before leaving the site.
- The scanner, refinery and rig module are confirmed equipment; follow their live prompts for interaction details.
- The September update adjusted deposit capacity, replenishment, commodity weighting and rig efficiency, so do not rely on unverified old rates.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat scans and rig deployment on deposits the game presents as usable. Deposits can deplete and recover; the timing and amount are variable, so revisit only after checking the site's current state.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the official tool list specifies an exact button sequence; use the active vehicle prompts.
- Leaving before checking cargo and refinery; confirm that output was actually collected.
- Treating prior yields or efficiency as stable after balance changes; inspect each deposit and current interface.
When to stop or switch
Stop when cargo or refinery state shows no useful further collection, or leave the site to let a depleted deposit recover and work another location.
