Find Silicon Ore on the surface
On a planet surface, at a rock that the Survival Tool identifies as Silicon.
Before you go
- Survival Tool
- Rock Drill mode available on the Survival Tool
Farming steps
- Select the Survival Tool and set its mode to Rock Drill.
- Aim at nearby candidate rocks until a material label is displayed.
- Read the label and keep searching if it does not say Silicon.
- Drill a Silicon-labeled rock until it breaks.
- Pick up the Silicon Ore dropped at the source.
- Check your inventory and use the ore in the constructor recipe you need; the current recipe display shows the required materials.
- Older descriptions mention distinctive pale or dotted rocks, but the in-game label is the safer identification check.
- Silicon distribution varies with world settings and geography; use visible resource labels rather than fixed coordinates.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat at other Silicon-labeled rocks you find. Surface rocks are finite individual sources, so continue searching if you need more than one provides.
Common mistakes
- Treating a visual description or biome suggestion as a guarantee: verify the resource readout at each rock.
- Drilling before confirming the label: ordinary stone or another ore will not serve as the Silicon target in this method.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough Silicon Ore for the recipe or construction you are preparing, or switch to another supported Silicon source if labeled rocks are scarce.
