WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Look for Cobalt in cold areas

Cold areas on a planet, where present in the selected standard Survival world or scenario.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Check the map and surrounding terrain to identify a cold area in the current world.
  2. Prepare for the temperature and other local conditions before leaving shelter or a vehicle.
  3. Inspect candidate surface resource rocks and read each displayed material label.
  4. Continue looking if the label is not Cobalt; a cold biome alone does not confirm a deposit.
  5. Break a Cobalt-labeled rock with the Survival Tool in Rock Drill mode.
  6. Collect the Cobalt and check your inventory against the crafting or construction requirement you are pursuing.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat at other Cobalt-labeled sources you find. Each rock is a limited pickup; continue your search only while you still need Cobalt and suitable sources remain.

Common mistakes

  • Entering cold terrain without adequate protection: prepare for local conditions before searching.
  • Assuming every cold area has Cobalt: confirm a material label and be ready to search elsewhere if none appears.

When to stop or switch

Stop once you have enough Cobalt for the current plan, or leave the area if the cold risk outweighs the value of continuing without confirmed sources.
