WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Coal

Coal patches on Nauvis.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Find a coal patch and start a burner drill with enough coal to keep it operating.
  2. Add drills across the patch and collect their output.
  3. Route coal to boilers, furnaces, or other intended fuel consumers.
  4. Keep a distinct supply for production uses that need coal.
  5. Replace or supplement burner drills with electric drills when power is stable.
  6. Check the output belt and consumer buffers for shortages.
  7. Increase mining or limit lower-priority use if supply falls behind.

Repeat, collect and use

Continuous while the patch has coal; another patch is needed when local output is inadequate or depleted.

Common mistakes

  • Letting burner drills consume all available coal; preserve fuel for the drill line.
  • Treating coal only as fuel; reserve supply for production needs too.
  • Adding consumers without checking extraction; prioritize users or increase mining.

When to stop or switch

Move to another patch or change allocation when the output no longer covers the consumers you intend to run.
