Before you go
- Burner drills with fuel or electric drills with power.
- Furnaces and an ore transport route.
- A separate copper plate belt or buffer.
Farming steps
- Select a patch and reserve room for drills, belts, and furnaces.
- Place drills over the patch and connect their fuel or power.
- Route copper ore along its own belt toward the smelter.
- Smelt ore into copper plates and carry plates on a separate output route.
- Send plates to cable assemblers or other copper consumers.
- Check whether mining, smelting, or transport is limiting plate delivery.
- Expand the line or connect another patch when factory demand exceeds supply.
- Circuit production can raise copper demand quickly; watch the cable line as you expand.
- Standard map generation tends to place richer patches farther from the start, though settings vary.
Repeat, collect and use
Continuous while the patch remains productive; add capacity or another patch as demand grows.
Common mistakes
- Sharing an ore belt with iron; separate the streams.
- Adding miners when furnaces are the bottleneck; increase smelting instead.
- Sending all plates to one consumer without checking others; distribute or buffer deliberately.
When to stop or switch
Expand to another patch when the existing line cannot meet demand after its bottleneck is addressed.
