WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Oil Processing Chain

A Nauvis refinery supplied by an oil field, with chemical plants for downstream processing.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Connect crude from the oil field to refinery input.
  2. Select an available recipe based on the products your factory needs.
  3. Pipe refinery outputs separately toward consumers or storage.
  4. Check for a product that is backing up or running short.
  5. Add chemical plants for cracking only where they address that imbalance.
  6. Connect the required water and route the resulting fluids to their intended consumers.
  7. Recheck the balance after changing recipes or adding consumers.

Repeat, collect and use

Continuous while crude and output handling are available; change recipes or downstream conversion as demand shifts.

Common mistakes

  • Allowing a refinery output to fill all available storage; make room or consume the product.
  • Assuming recipes produce the same fluid mix; check the selected recipe.
  • Adding cracking without its required water or target; connect inputs and use it to solve a real imbalance.

When to stop or switch

Stop adding refineries when crude input or product consumption is the bottleneck; improve that stage first.
