WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Smelting Byproduct Collection and Use

At a smelting machine whose active process displays a byproduct output, with room nearby for separate storage or a confirmed accepting consumer.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Inspect the active smelting process and identify each displayed output, including any byproduct.
  2. Run a small operating batch and observe where the byproduct appears at the machine.
  3. Place or designate a separate receiver for that material so it is not confused with ingots.
  4. Connect the byproduct output to its receiver using the logistics available in your build.
  5. Check that the receiver accepts the material and that it does not fill before the ingot route does.
  6. If an available machine accepts the byproduct, connect the stored output to that consumer and verify that it is used.
  7. Keep the receiver accessible and collect its contents for storage or processing when capacity is needed.

Repeat, collect and use

This collection loop repeats while the selected smelting process runs and continues producing the displayed byproduct: receive it, store it, then move it to a confirmed consumer or retain it in storage. If the process produces no byproduct, there is nothing to collect.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming every smelting process produces the same secondary material: check the active process’s outputs.
  • Sending byproduct into an ingot receiver: give distinct outputs separate receiving space.
  • Connecting it to an unverified consumer: confirm the machine accepts that material before relying on the route.

When to stop or switch

Stop collecting from this line when the process changes or the receiver has no room. Resume after confirming the output and restoring storage or consumer capacity.
