How to farm
Route sections include Mont Esus East, south of Fontaine Research Institute, north of Central Laboratory Ruins, New Fontaine Research Institute, Kuisel’s Clockwork Workshop, and north Liffey.
Before you go
- Unlock the Fontaine waypoints needed for the open-world route.
- Complete Treacherous Light of the Depths for its underground section, In Search of Lost Time for the locked tower, and Road to the Singularity for Kuisel’s workshop access.
- Bring enough inventory space for specialty pickups.
- Start at Mont Esus East and follow the route south of Fontaine Research Institute.
- Continue to the area north of Central Laboratory Ruins and collect the marked units.
- Sweep around New Fontaine Research Institute.
- Travel to Kuisel’s Clockwork Workshop and gather its accessible section if the quest route is open.
- Finish with north Liffey’s marked units.
- Return to locked underground or tower sections only after completing their access quests.
- Use the collected units in the target character’s ascension menu.
Farming tips
- The mapped route distinguishes surface and underground nodes; check the section before traveling.
- Skip locked groups until their named quests are done to avoid losing time at inaccessible doors.
Repeat, collect and use
Local specialty nodes replenish on their normal collection cycle. Quest-gated access remains a one-time unlock, after which the nodes can be collected on future cycles.
Common mistakes
- Assuming all 72 noted open-world nodes are accessible immediately: some sections are quest-gated.
- Searching for the tower before its quest: complete In Search of Lost Time first.
- Missing the underground split: check the route section and unlock Treacherous Light of the Depths.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the character’s Subdetection Unit requirement is met or all currently accessible nodes have been collected.
