WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Resplendent Treasure Troves in Ascendant Mode campaign zones, or Dread encounters that can occur during Ascendant Mode play.
Celestial Essence is a material used at Kurn’s Ascension Altar to make Dread encounters more likely. In the current 1.3.1-era patch, Resplendent Treasure Troves and Dread both have a chance to drop it. That creates two concrete targets while playing Ascendant Mode: search campaign areas for upgraded troves, and take on Dread if it appears and your build can manage the fight. Neither route guarantees Essence, so collect the material over repeated play rather than planning around a fixed yield.
A level 100 character on Ultimate to enable the mode.
A build capable of handling Ascendant encounters; Dread is especially dangerous.
Current 1.3.1-era game version for the documented Essence drops.
Choose a campaign zone you can clear safely and enable Ascendant Mode.
Explore for Treasure Troves, clearing nearby enemies before opening each chest.
Check whether a trove has upgraded to Resplendent and collect its contents.
Inspect all collected materials for Celestial Essence and keep it in your inventory or stash.
If Dread appears during the run, engage only if prepared and defeat it for another chance at Essence.
Return to Kurn and spend collected Essence on the altar if you want to increase Dread encounter odds.
Continue trove searches and suitable Dread fights until you have enough for the altar or crafting goal.
Farming tips
Treat Essence as a chance drop from either target; do not budget a guaranteed amount per trove or boss.
If Dread is too risky, focus on safe trove exploration and skip the encounter.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable through new troves and Dread encounters, but the material is not guaranteed. Each individual character’s troves are encountered through play; the method has no fixed run yield.
Common mistakes
Opening ordinary troves expecting Essence: the documented trove source is Resplendent Troves.
Counting on Dread to repay the offering: Dread may drop Essence, but it is not certain.
Using an older or uncertain patch assumption: the documented drop is from the current 1.3.1-era version.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have the Essence needed for your planned altar use, or switch to another activity if troves are scarce or Dread threatens the build.
