Hunt Ascension-modified equipment
Gear drops from Ascendant Mode campaign activities, including ordinary enemy encounters, Troves, and other loot-bearing fights. Soul Fragments can be offered at Kurn to increase modifier-drop chances.
Before you go
- Fangs of Asterkarn and Ascendant Mode access.
- A level 100 character on Ultimate to toggle Ascendant Mode.
- Soul Fragments if you want to increase the chance of Ascension-modified item drops.
- A stable farming build that can clear Ascendant encounters at a sustainable pace.
Farming steps
- Enable Ascendant Mode and travel to a campaign activity you can clear comfortably.
- At Kurn, consider offering Soul Fragments to improve the chance of Ascension modifiers.
- Fight through enemies and collect item drops of every quality, including common items.
- Inspect each item for a randomized Ascension modifier and compare its effect with your build.
- Keep pieces that improve your skills or stats; stash candidates for later comparison.
- Use the Runekeeper near the altar to ascend a suitable item when you are ready to develop it further.
- Return to the Inventor’s Alteration system, once unlocked, if you need to reroll Ascended Affixes.
- Do not discard common items automatically; the modifier can make a low-quality base worth examining.
- Ascension modifiers are randomized, so set a build goal and compare actual effects instead of chasing a presumed fixed affix.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable through any Ascendant Mode activity that drops gear. Modifier drops are possible, not guaranteed; rerolling affixes and ascending equipment use their respective in-game systems and resources.
Common mistakes
- Only inspecting Epic or Legendary items: the patch allows modifiers on all item qualities.
- Expecting Soul Fragments to guarantee a modifier: they increase the chance but do not ensure a drop.
- Assuming every Ascended item is an upgrade: compare the modifier and base item with your current equipment.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you obtain an item that meaningfully improves your build or when the modifier hunt no longer beats another target farm; preserve promising candidates for later rerolls.
