Raw Science and Research
Visible Raw Science orbs and available Ranger Outpost missions in Brookhollow Park; use an outpost’s Resource Analyser for material research.
Before you go
- Reach a Ranger Outpost and gain access to its shop and Resource Analyser.
- A current mission you can complete, if you want mission rewards.
- An unfamiliar material and an available analyser charge for research.
Farming steps
- Complete the opening missions to reach an outpost and learn its progression systems.
- Review the missions currently listed and select one that fits your route and readiness.
- Collect visible purple Raw Science orbs you encounter while exploring; check landmark edges and accessible side areas.
- Complete the selected mission objectives and return to the outpost to receive its reward.
- Open the Ranger Station shop and spend available Raw Science on a useful unlock.
- Separately, submit unfamiliar materials to the Resource Analyser when charges are available.
- Review the resulting recipe and resource information, then use the scanner or crafting options those discoveries unlock.
- Keep mission rewards and orb pickups distinct from analyser research; analysis is not a Raw Science source.
- Research newly found materials before using up a rare supply, so you can see what recipes become available.
Repeat, collect and use
Collect additional visible orbs during later exploration and complete missions only when new or otherwise available objectives appear. This is not a guaranteed repeatable mission farm; analyser charges replenish over in-game time for further research.
Common mistakes
- Assuming a completed mission can be repeated; check the current mission list for available objectives.
- Treating analyser research as a way to earn Raw Science; use the shop for spending Science and the analyser for material discoveries.
- Spending all charges on familiar materials; prioritize new resources whose recipes or scanner information you need.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you can afford the next useful shop unlock and have researched the materials needed for your current crafts; return to orb collection or available missions when another unlock becomes a priority.
