Ranger Outpost terminal in the Snackbar region.
Before you go
- Access to the Snackbar Ranger Outpost.
- Opening missions completed far enough to expose the Omni-Tool upgrade.
- Raw Science and any materials listed at the current terminal.
Farming steps
- Follow the opening missions until you can use the Snackbar Ranger Outpost.
- Check available missions and complete ones that can earn the Science needed for progression.
- Analyze newly found materials at the outpost to unlock relevant crafting information.
- Open the upgrade terminal and inspect the current Omni-Shovel requirements.
- Gather any listed materials through the appropriate resource loops.
- Return to the terminal and purchase the shovel function once the displayed cost is met.
- Equip or select the shovel function when approaching shovel-gated targets.
- Use the terminal’s displayed cost because Early Access balance can change.
- Acorns require the hammer function; the shovel serves a different collection role.
Repeat, collect and use
The upgrade purchase is one-time per character or save progression. Repeat the mission and resource gathering loop only until the listed cost is met; the upgrade itself is not a renewable farm.
Common mistakes
- Searching the park for a dropped shovel upgrade; buy it through the outpost terminal.
- Assuming analysis itself awards Raw Science; missions and orbs supply Science, while analysis unlocks recipes.
- Using the hammer on a shovel-gated target; select the correct Omni-Tool function.
When to stop or switch
Stop gathering once the terminal allows the purchase, then spend effort on targets the new shovel function unlocks.
