- Upgraded Omni-Tool and combat gear suited to the northern region.
- Healing and food for a difficult encounter.
- Room to carry a stinger back to a Ranger Outpost analyser.
Farming steps
- Finish earlier missions and upgrades before traveling into the advanced northern zones.
- Search the northern area for a Northern Scorpion patrol, using the creature itself as your target rather than assuming a precise coordinate.
- Observe the patrol and look for a position where nearby hostiles will not join the fight.
- Engage the scorpion only when your health, stamina, and healing supplies are ready.
- Defeat it using the combat approach that works with your equipped weapon and current build.
- Harvest the carcass and collect any Stinger it yields.
- Take your first Stinger to a Ranger Outpost analyser and check its current recipe or Omni-Tool upgrade use.
- Do not start the fight beside other hostile creatures; create separation first.
- Bring enough supplies to leave safely if the fight turns against you.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat when you encounter another scorpion and have supplies for another fight. A stinger is a creature drop, so each kill may not produce one.
Common mistakes
- Treating a broad northern zone as a guaranteed spawn point; search for an actual patrol.
- Fighting while other hostiles are close; reposition before committing.
- Assuming every carcass yields a stinger; budget for the possibility of a kill without one.
When to stop or switch
Stop once your current upgrade recipes have the stingers they require, or retreat when health or healing reserves are too low.
