Before you go
- Progress through the story to the lake before the wooden village.
- Have a weapon equipped and enough health or recovery items to fight enemies around the lake.
- Know which special weapon you plan to upgrade, or be willing to save the material.
Farming steps
- Follow the story route until you reach the lake before the wooden village.
- Search the lake area for the Dimensional Butterfly; do not leave the area while it is still alive.
- Defeat the butterfly, watching for nearby enemies while you engage it.
- Collect the Dark Moonstone of the Covenant dropped by the butterfly.
- Check your inventory to confirm the material was collected.
- At Hotel Krat, inspect your chosen special weapon’s upgrade path and confirm whether this stone is needed for its next upgrade.
- Use the stone on that weapon if it supports your current plan; otherwise keep it for a later decision.
- Clear nearby threats before focusing on the butterfly so interruptions do not cost you the encounter.
- Compare the special weapon’s next upgrade requirement before spending the stone; Covenant materials are limited.

One-time chapter encounter. The butterfly drop is a fixed pickup opportunity, not a Stargazer-reset farm; collect it during this visit.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the lake before defeating the butterfly; search the area and finish the encounter before progressing.
- Expecting the butterfly to respawn after resting; treat the drop as a limited pickup and continue to other material sources afterward.
- Spending the stone without checking a weapon’s upgrade requirement; inspect the upgrade menu first or save it.
When to stop or switch
Stop once you have collected the drop and confirmed whether it fits your chosen special weapon. If the butterfly is defeated and the material is in your inventory, move on rather than repeating the route.
