Plant Fiber and Wood
Common shrubs and trees across Outset Grasslands, with log processing at the homestead Sawmill.
Before you go
- Spike Saw for cutting trees and shrubs.
- Storage for loose materials and any logs you collect.
- Sawmill, unlocked through Milestone 2, if processing logs.
Farming steps
- Walk an accessible route through Outset Grasslands and identify common shrubs and trees.
- Use the Spike Saw on shrubs to gather Plant Fiber.
- Cut common trees for Wood and collect any full logs separately from loose Wood.
- Sweep loose drops from around the plants before continuing along the route.
- At home, sort Plant Fiber, loose Wood, and logs into separate storage groups.
- When the Sawmill is available, place logs into the station and collect the processed wood output.
- Use the gathered materials for constructs or the currently requested delivery items.
- You can collect basic Fiber and Wood before the Sawmill unlock; do not hold up early construction waiting for log processing.
- Keep some logs aside if a future processing run is planned, rather than delivering the whole stack.
Repeat, collect and use
Gathering shrubs and trees is repeatable as materials are available. Log processing is repeatable while you have logs and access to the Sawmill.
Common mistakes
- Putting logs in the same mental stock as loose Wood: keep them separate because logs are the Sawmill input.
- Waiting for Milestone 2 to gather any wood: loose Wood and Plant Fiber can be collected earlier.
- Leaving drops behind after cutting: sweep the area before moving on.
When to stop or switch
Stop the route when the current build or delivery has enough Fiber and Wood; switch to the Sawmill loop when you have logs and need processed output.
