Process Logs at the Sawmill
At the homestead Sawmill, unlocked through Milestone 2. Gather logs from the world and bring them back for processing.
Before you go
- Progress through milestones until Milestone 2 unlocks the Sawmill.
- A Sawmill built and available at the homestead.
- Logs collected during exploration.
- Storage or carrying capacity for the processed wood.
Farming steps
- Check your construction plans and the active Resource Delivery Cannon request to decide how much wood you need.
- Progress through the milestones that unlock the Sawmill, then build it at the homestead.
- Take a gathering trip and use the Spike Saw on trees to collect available wood materials, keeping logs for processing separate from loose Wood.
- Return to the farm with the logs and interact with the Sawmill.
- Load logs into the Sawmill using its displayed controls and let the station process them.
- Collect the resulting wood resources from the Sawmill.
- Store the processed output or use it for a planned construction or an exact matching delivery request.
- Keep logs separate from loose Wood while organizing your haul; the Sawmill’s processing route is specifically for logs.
- Check the active delivery request before submitting processed wood, since it may call for a different item.
Repeat, collect and use
Milestone 2 and the Sawmill unlock are progression steps completed once. Gathering and processing more logs can be repeated whenever you need additional wood resources.
Common mistakes
- Looking for the Sawmill before unlocking it: progress through Milestone 2 first.
- Taking loose Wood to the station as if it were a log: collect logs for the Sawmill’s processing input.
- Delivering processed wood without checking the requested item: match the cannon’s displayed requirement exactly.
When to stop or switch
Stop processing when you have enough wood for your planned construction or current request. Gather and process another load when a later build needs more.
