WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Fortress hunting

Nether — Nether fortress, especially near a blaze spawner.

Blaze rods come from blazes killed by the player or a tamed wolf. Find a fortress spawner, secure a controlled fighting position, and collect drops after each eligible kill. Environmental damage alone does not provide the same rod drop.

Enter your world seed, generation version and dimension to locate biomes and structures. Ore deposits still require the depth and tool instructions below.

Use the provider’s biome or structure filters for Nether Fortress for Blaze Rod, Warped Forest for Endermen, Appropriate Nether exploration area plus the Ancient Debris height guide. Match the version that generated your chunks. Biome maps do not show exact ore blocks.

How to farm

Before you go

  • Nether access and combat equipment.
  • Food and a safe retreat route.
  • Fire protection appropriate to your loadout; shield or blocks for cover.
  1. Locate a Nether fortress and approach it carefully, marking a route back to safety.
  2. Search the fortress for a blaze spawner and clear nearby threats before fighting.
  3. Choose a controlled position with room to retreat and avoid being surrounded.
  4. Engage blazes and make the final kills yourself or with a tamed wolf.
  5. Collect dropped rods from the fight area before moving on.
  6. Craft rods into blaze powder if that is your goal, or store rods for later recipes.
  7. Repeat fights near the spawner while your supplies and health remain adequate.

Farming tips

  • Build cover and a retreat path before provoking blazes; open fortress corridors can leave few safe options.
  • If you need rods, avoid relying on environmental damage for the final kill.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable while the spawner area remains accessible and you can safely fight eligible blazes; drops are not guaranteed per kill.

Common mistakes

  • Letting an environmental source finish the fight when rods are the goal: make the eligible kill yourself or use a tamed wolf.
  • Fighting without a retreat route: secure the approach before engaging.
  • Leaving rods on the fortress floor: collect drops after each controlled encounter.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have enough rods for the intended brewing or crafting goal, or retreat when health and supplies are low.
