CRAFTING & INGREDIENTS

Debris mining and refining

Nether — underground near Y=16.

This is a resource trip and crafting chain, not a renewable farm. Mine buried Ancient Debris in the Nether, smelt it into scraps, then combine scraps with gold. The required quantities are four scraps and four gold ingots per netherite ingot.

How to craft

Before you craft

  • Diamond or netherite pickaxe.
  • Furnace or blast furnace and fuel for smelting.
  • Food, lighting, blocks and equipment for safe Nether tunneling.
  • Gold ingots for the final crafting step.
  1. Reach the Nether and descend safely toward Y=16, keeping a return route and watching for lava.
  2. Make a controlled tunnel through the lower layers to expose buried blocks; do not rely on surface searching.
  3. Inspect the tunnel walls and mine Ancient Debris with the required pickaxe.
  4. Collect the debris and return to a protected smelting area.
  5. Place debris in the furnace input and fuel in the fuel slot; collect the resulting netherite scraps.
  6. Craft four scraps with four gold ingots into a netherite ingot.
  7. Use the ingot for the upgrade or project that prompted the expedition.

Crafting tips

  • Ancient Debris is not naturally exposed to air, so surface exploration is a poor substitute for tunneling.
  • The distribution varies with edition changes; plan around your needed quantity rather than assuming a fixed find rate.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable as a mining expedition, but each batch consumes newly found debris and gold; it is not renewable production.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to mine debris with an inadequate pickaxe: bring a diamond or netherite pickaxe.
  • Searching only open Nether terrain: expose buried blocks by tunneling.
  • Stopping at scraps: reserve four gold ingots and craft the four-scrap recipe when you need an ingot.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have enough ingots for the intended upgrades and project, or switch to gathering gold before another debris run.

Using the ingot

Base — Smithing Table

  • Diamond equipment, netherite ingot and a Netherite Upgrade template.
  1. Obtain the template from a bastion remnant.
  2. Duplicate a template before spending your only copy if you need more upgrades.
  3. Combine template, diamond item and ingot at the Smithing Table.
  • The upgrade template is consumed.
