CRAFTING & INGREDIENTS

Mine and smelt

Overworld — ordinary stone above the deep deepslate layer; process at a furnace.

Ordinary mining gives cobblestone; processing it produces stone, and a second smelting pass produces smooth stone. Keep these outputs distinct because recipes may ask for one specific form.

Enter your world seed, generation version and dimension to locate biomes and structures. Ore deposits still require the depth and tool instructions below.

Match the version that generated your chunks. Biome maps do not show exact ore blocks.

How to craft

Before you craft

  • Pickaxe.
  • Regular furnace and fuel for stone or smooth stone.
  • Storage space for the separate block types.
  1. Find ordinary stone in the Overworld and mine it with a pickaxe to collect cobblestone.
  2. Return to a furnace and place cobblestone in the input slot with fuel below.
  3. Collect the stone output when smelting finishes.
  4. If the project calls for smooth stone, put that stone back into the furnace input and smelt it again.
  5. Collect the smooth stone and keep it separate from cobblestone and ordinary stone.
  6. Repeat mining and processing until the required block count is available.

Crafting tips

  • A Silk Touch pickaxe can collect stone directly, avoiding the cobblestone-to-stone pass.
  • Read the exact recipe name before smelting; the three materials are not interchangeable in every recipe.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable while suitable stone and furnace fuel are available.

Common mistakes

  • Using cobblestone where stone is required: smelt the cobblestone first.
  • Stopping after one pass when smooth stone is needed: smelt the stone output again.
  • Using a blast furnace for a recipe that requires the regular furnace process: use a regular furnace.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the requested block type and quantity are in storage; switch to another task if furnace fuel becomes the bottleneck.

Renewable generator

Overworld — contained water-and-lava generator

  • Water, lava, nonflammable containment and a pickaxe.
  1. Arrange flowing lava to meet flowing water to form cobblestone.
  2. Mine the generated block repeatedly while keeping the sources contained.
  3. For stone generation, lava must flow into water from above.
  • Water placement makes this unsuitable for an ordinary Nether build.
