Before you go

Iron pickaxe or better.
Lighting, food and supplies for deep mining.
Inventory space for redstone and other ore.

Farming steps

Descend safely to the deep deepslate layers and establish a lit route.
Mine horizontal tunnels or inspect accessible deep caves within the lower batch range.
Look for redstone ore in exposed walls and mine it with an eligible pickaxe.
Collect the redstone dust directly from the mined ore.
Use Fortune when available if you want additional dust from each block.
Continue along the tunnel, watching for hazards and other useful ores.
Return to your base and sort the dust for the planned mechanism or recipe.

Redstone ore is not reduced beside air, so exposed cave walls can still be worth checking.
Combine this trip with deep diamond mining when both resources are on your list.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable by mining further veins; deposits are finite.

Common mistakes

Using a pickaxe below the required tier: bring iron tier or better.
Ignoring exposed ore because it is beside open air: redstone remains worth mining there.
Failing to collect dust before leaving: check the floor and tunnel corners after mining.
