Before you go
- Level 20 or higher and campaign access.
- Access to the active zone for local challenges and altars.
- Event activities that award Shards of Madness.
Farming steps
- Open the campaign interface and note your current Shard total.
- Review the daily and weekly objectives and choose those that award Shards.
- Complete active-zone tasks such as defeating enemies, clearing marked encounters, or purifying altars.
- Prioritize altar purification when available, since it is a strong source of shared Nightmare progress.
- Collect the Shards credited after each activity.
- Reopen the event panel and monitor your personal total.
- Continue eligible objectives until the balance reaches at least 500.
- Do not confuse personal Shard eligibility with the server-wide progression bar; both are tracked in the event.
- Complete the available weekly objectives during the active zone rotation.
Repeat, collect and use
Shards can be earned through repeatable event activities, while daily and weekly objectives have reset limits. Eligibility is a one-time threshold for the relevant global reward phase.
Common mistakes
- Stopping at 500 before confirming credit: verify the event balance updates.
- Assuming a shared server bar qualifies everyone: reach the personal threshold yourself.
- Expecting a guaranteed particular item: the threshold establishes eligibility for global rewards.
When to stop or switch
Stop farming Shards once the interface confirms at least 500 and any relevant phase reward is claimed.
