WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Eternal Rift Blacksmith menu, after completing A Fierce Flame and obtaining Kagutsuchi’s Magatama.
Soul Matching at the Eternal Rift Blacksmith lets you invest in equipment you want to keep using. It has separate options for raising base level and +value, and each calls for its corresponding Soul Ore and Gold. The menu preview is the practical check: it shows whether your chosen item and materials can produce the upgrade you want and what it will cost. Soul Matching is available only after the A Fierce Flame side quest and Kagutsuchi’s Magatama unlock it.
Unlock the Blacksmith by completing The Hamamatsu Incident and defeating Jakotsu-baba.
Clear the third region and complete A Fierce Flame to obtain Kagutsuchi’s Magatama.
Have a piece of equipment to upgrade, the appropriate Soul Ore, and enough Gold for the displayed cost.
Travel to the Eternal Rift and speak with the Blacksmith.
Open Soul Matching and choose the equipment you want to keep as the base item.
Choose whether to raise its level or its +value.
Select the appropriate Soul Ore for that upgrade option: Yellow Soul Ore for level, or Azure Soul Ore for +value.
Review the preview and Gold cost; make sure the selected ore and result match your goal.
Confirm only if the displayed improvement is worth spending those resources.
Return to missions with the upgraded item, then revisit the Blacksmith when you have another worthwhile upgrade.
Farming tips
Treat level and +value as separate upgrade paths; check the option and ore before confirming.
Reserve upgrades for equipment whose effects or set bonus fit your build, since future drops may replace temporary gear.
Repeat, collect and use
The A Fierce Flame unlock is a one-time progression step per character. Soul Matching can be repeated when you have eligible equipment, the appropriate Soul Ore, and enough Gold.
Common mistakes
Selecting a general equipment item as the upgrade material: choose the Soul Ore required for the selected level or +value option.
Assuming the same ore raises either track: check the menu’s required ore for the specific upgrade.
Confirming without checking the result and Gold cost: review the preview before committing.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the desired level or +value is reached, or when the previewed cost is no longer worthwhile; return after finding a stronger keeper item or replenishing the needed ore.
