Purify Soul Cores at a Shrine
At a Shrine after defeating yokai and collecting a Soul Core.
Before you go
- Defeat yokai that can drop a Soul Core.
- Collect the Core during the mission.
- Reach a Shrine.
Farming steps
- Defeat yokai and check the mission drops for a Soul Core.
- Pick up the Core before leaving the area.
- Travel to a Shrine and pray to restore and open its management menus.
- Select the Soul Core purification option for the unpurified Core.
- After purification, open Manage Soul Cores or the Onmyo Box menus.
- Review its effects and assign it to a position if it fits your build.
- Soul Core effects differ, including by Yang or Yin position, so inspect the item before setting it.
- Shrines also restore Life, making a Shrine stop convenient after collecting a Core.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat after missions whenever you collect unpurified Soul Cores. Core drops depend on enemies and are not guaranteed from every yokai.
Common mistakes
- Leaving a Core unpurified and expecting to use it: perform the Shrine purification first.
- Treating every Core as interchangeable: compare its effects and position benefits.
- Assuming a specific yokai will always drop one: use the drops you actually receive.
When to stop or switch
Stop processing once each collected Core is purified and assigned, stored, or otherwise handled; return to a targeted yokai farm only if you need a specific Core.
