Unlock Soul Matching with A Fierce Flame
A Fierce Flame side quest at the Eternal Rift after clearing the third region; Soul Matching is at the Rift Blacksmith after the quest.
Before you go
- Complete The Hamamatsu Incident and defeat Jakotsu-baba to unlock the Blacksmith.
- Clear the third region so A Fierce Flame becomes available at the Eternal Rift.
- Complete the quest and obtain Kagutsuchi’s Magatama.
Farming steps
- After clearing the third region, return to the Eternal Rift and check its available side quests.
- Accept A Fierce Flame and read the objective shown in the mission menu.
- Select the quest and complete its stated encounter and objective.
- Finish the quest and verify that Kagutsuchi’s Magatama has been obtained.
- Return to the Rift Blacksmith and open Soul Matching to confirm the service is available.
- Choose a piece of equipment and select either the level or +value upgrade option.
- Select the corresponding Soul Ore, then inspect the preview and Gold cost before confirming.
- The Blacksmith and Soul Matching have separate unlock milestones; having the Blacksmith does not mean the quest gate is cleared.
- Before spending, decide whether the item is worth keeping and which upgrade track suits your need.
Repeat, collect and use
A Fierce Flame is a one-time unlock per character. Soul Matching is repeatable afterward when you have eligible equipment, the required Soul Ore, and enough Gold.
Common mistakes
- Looking for A Fierce Flame before clearing the third region: complete that progression gate first.
- Assuming the Blacksmith unlock also grants Soul Matching: finish the side quest and obtain Kagutsuchi’s Magatama.
- Choosing an upgrade without its required ore or checking the price: select the relevant level or +value option and review the preview before confirming.
When to stop or switch
Stop the unlock route once Soul Matching appears in the Blacksmith menu. For later upgrades, wait until the displayed benefit justifies the ore and Gold cost.
