Thimble Reed Fiber
Plant Thimble Reed in a Farm Tile or Hydroponic Farm in a room that satisfies the plant’s current requirements. Wild plants may be found in explored areas; domestic farming requires a Polluted Water supply.

- Farm Tile or Hydroponic Farm for a domestic crop.
- Polluted Water supply for domestic growth.
- Duplicant access to plant and harvest.
Farming steps
- Acquire a seed through exploration or another eligible in-game source, then confirm it is Thimble Reed before planting.
- Choose a location for a compatible Farm Tile or Hydroponic Farm and plan a Polluted Water line or delivery route.
- Plant the seed and check the plant status panel to identify any unmet species condition.
- Keep Polluted Water available for the domestic crop; avoid connecting an unverified liquid source.
- When the plant matures, harvest the Reed Fiber and collect any seeds produced.
- Store Reed Fiber with other construction materials or send it to the relevant production station, such as suit manufacturing when available.
- Replant seeds if you want to keep the crop area in operation.
- A wild harvest can provide a starting quantity without committing to a domestic irrigation system.
- Treat Reed Fiber and seeds as separate outputs: reserve seeds for farm continuity if material demand is high.
Repeat, collect and use
Domestic harvesting repeats while plants, seeds, Polluted Water, and suitable growing conditions are maintained. Collect fiber after maturity and replant available seeds; individual wild patches are limited unless they regenerate by game mechanics.
Common mistakes
- Using clean Water because it is convenient; domestic Thimble Reed requires Polluted Water.
- Assuming a harvest guarantees enough seeds to expand; retain available seeds and avoid basing a plan on an unstated yield.
- Planting without checking building compatibility; use Farm Tiles or Hydroponic Farms for the domestic crop.
When to stop or switch
Pause expansion when the Reed Fiber stock meets construction or suit needs, or when Polluted Water delivery is needed elsewhere. Resume when material demand returns and the liquid supply can support it.
