WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Garden Adjacency Buff Planning

Housing Plot soil grid, arranged before planting a crop cycle.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Choose the main crop you want to support and identify its useful neighbor buff from the crop information.
  2. Sketch the soil tiles for the bed, marking the target crop tiles and the different crop types that can provide the buff.
  3. Count only edge-sharing neighboring tiles as adjacent; do not rely on diagonal placement.
  4. Place buff-giving crops beside the target tiles, checking that the two crop types differ.
  5. Reserve a complete 3-by-3 area if including an apple tree, then plan its surrounding tiles around the footprint.
  6. Before sowing, trace each target crop’s neighboring tiles and confirm the intended buff crop touches it.
  7. Plant the layout and preserve the arrangement when replanting after harvest; revise it if your crop goal changes.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat the layout check whenever you change crop varieties or replant. The plan is reusable, but the crop seeds and harvest cycle must be maintained; it is not a one-time resource farm.

Common mistakes

  • Counting diagonal crops as neighbors: place the buff crop on an edge-sharing tile.
  • Expecting a crop to buff another of its own type: use a different crop type for the adjacency effect.
  • Planning around only one tile of an apple tree: reserve all nine tiles before arranging surrounding crops.

When to stop or switch

Stop adjusting once each target tile has the intended edge-sharing neighbor and the large-crop footprint fits; switch to a different layout when your target crop or desired buff changes.
