WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Crop Rotation

Housing Plot garden, using the neighbor-buff properties of planted crops.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Pick one production goal for the next planting, such as faster growth for a slower crop or more of a crop you use often.
  2. Check the crop table for the buff each seed provides and which neighboring tiles it can affect.
  3. Mark the tiles that should receive the chosen buff before you replace any crops.
  4. Plant buff-giving crops beside the intended targets, using tile adjacency rather than diagonal proximity.
  5. Fit large crops into the design with their full footprint accounted for.
  6. Care for the garden and harvest when crops are ready.
  7. Replant the same pattern if it still suits your goal, or change only the necessary tiles for the next cycle.

Repeat, collect and use

This is an ongoing garden-planning loop: harvest, preserve the useful layout, and replant while the same goal remains relevant.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming diagonal crops count as neighbors: plan around actual neighboring tiles.
  • Expecting the same crop type to provide the needed neighbor effect: use compatible different crop types as indicated by the crop information.
  • Forgetting a tree’s footprint: leave room for all nine tiles before planting nearby crops.

When to stop or switch

Stop rotating once the layout supplies the crop mix you need; switch to a simpler bed if maintaining the pattern takes more seed stock than it is worth.
