Before you go
- Unlock and place a Seed Collector.
- Harvest the crop whose seed you want to produce.
- Keep inventory room for both crop inputs and finished seeds.
Farming steps
- Decide which crop you want available for the next garden cycle before loading the machine.
- Set aside enough harvested produce to cover that seed goal.
- Put the selected crop into the Seed Collector input.
- Wait for the machine’s processing to finish, then collect its seed output.
- Compare the resulting seed stock with what your next layout needs.
- Plant the reserved seeds in the intended pattern and store any excess for a later cycle.
- Send leftover crops to cooking or another available processing option if that serves your goal better.
- Do not automatically convert every high-value or starred crop; compare its seed use with other ways you could use it.
- Choose a single target crop for a batch so the output is easy to reserve for replanting.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat whenever a new crop harvest leaves you short of seeds for a planned planting; the loop depends on having produce to process.
Common mistakes
- Loading all produce and leaving nothing for another purpose: reserve seed inputs and food first.
- Assuming machine output is always the best value: compare seed needs with other crop uses before processing.
- Planting every seed immediately: keep a small reserve so one poor layout change does not interrupt the next cycle.
When to stop or switch
Stop processing once you have enough seeds for the next planned garden; use surplus produce elsewhere until the seed reserve runs low.
