Earn the Dran Preacher’s Unique Rewards on Forlorn Coast

Before you go
- Access to The Awakened King storyline in Losomn.
- A combat-ready build for the Dire Fiend fight.
- If pursuing the Band of the Fanatic, wear the full Zealot set or full Academic set before speaking to the Preacher.
Farming steps
- Before approaching the sermon, decide whether the priority is the encounter’s combat drop or its dialogue reward.
- For the Band of the Fanatic, equip one complete Zealot set or one complete Academic set; mixing pieces from the two sets does not meet the condition.
- Dialogue branch: let the sermon finish, then speak with the Preacher while wearing the qualifying full set to receive the Band of the Fanatic. Leave after collecting the ring; the combat steps below describe an alternative route.
- Combat branch: skip the peaceful reward route. Shoot the Preacher’s head during the speech to pursue the Dandy Topper; interrupting the sermon makes the congregation hostile.
- For the interrupted-sermon combat branch, fight the transformed Dire Fiend and collect its Dreadful Mutator, Scrap, and Corrupted Lumenite rewards. These are fight rewards, not a payout for completing the peaceful dialogue.
- If you collected the Dreadful Mutator from the combat branch, return to Ward 13 and take it to Dwell if you intend to upgrade it.
- The dialogue reward and fight reward have different conditions; choose before triggering the encounter.
- The Dire Fiend’s rear becomes its weak point after its pustules are destroyed.
Repeat, collect and use
Treat the encounter as a one-time reward decision for the current world roll. If you need another attempt at a dialogue outcome, create a fresh Forlorn Coast roll and verify the encounter is present.
Common mistakes
- Mixing Zealot and Academic pieces prevents the Band of the Fanatic condition.
- Approaching without the required outfit can trigger the fight before you claim the ring.
- Shooting the Preacher trades the peaceful dialogue path for the hostile encounter.
When to stop or switch
Stop after collecting the reward that matches your goal; do not trigger the alternate branch expecting both dialogue outcomes in one encounter.
