Make Iron Ingots in a Smelter or collect ingots from storage.
Place a Constructor at your factory and connect power.
Select Iron Rod from the Constructor's recipe list.
Connect Iron Ingots to its input.
Collect the rods or belt them to storage or a production line, such as a Screws Constructor.
Check the input and output when demand changes, and adjust the ingot feed if production stops.

At 100% clock speed, the default Constructor uses and makes 15 items per minute.
Allocate shared ingots among rods and other parts according to your current needs.
Alternate Iron Rod recipes need their own unlocks and ingredients.

Keep the Constructor supplied and clear its output. Make more rods as stock is used, or expand capacity when ongoing demand grows.

Looking for Iron Rods as a natural resource instead of making them.
Feeding Iron Ore into the default recipe instead of smelting it into Iron Ingots first.
Choosing an alternate recipe without unlocking it or supplying its ingredients.
