Before you go
- Unlock the Constructor and Iron Plate recipe.
- 3 Iron Ingots per default recipe batch.
- Power and transport or storage for the plate output.
Farming steps
- Make Iron Ingots in a Smelter or bring ingots from existing storage.
- Place a Constructor where you can connect its inputs and output.
- Power the Constructor and select Iron Plate from its recipe list.
- Connect a steady Iron Ingot supply to the input.
- Route the Iron Plates to storage or the next machine that needs them.
- Check that ingots reach the Constructor and plates can leave it without blockage.
- At 100% clock speed, the default recipe uses 30 Iron Ingots and makes 20 Iron Plates per minute.
- Three ingots make two plates in each default recipe batch.
- Alternate plate recipes require their own unlocks and may need additional materials.
Repeat, collect and use
Keep ingots flowing and clear the plate output. Add another Constructor if plate demand exceeds what your current line can supply.
Common mistakes
- Searching for Iron Plate resource nodes instead of manufacturing the part.
- Feeding Iron Ore into the default Constructor recipe; it needs Iron Ingots.
- Assuming one ingot makes one plate; the default batch uses three ingots for two plates.
When to stop or switch
Stop production when your plate stock meets the build target or the machines using plates stay supplied.
