Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Use the standard resource map to locate Crude Oil resources.
  2. Choose an accessible oil supply and inspect its location in game.
  3. Extract Crude Oil using the appropriate oil extraction setup and connect it to a Refinery.
  4. Configure the Refinery for the default Plastic recipe.
  5. Supply Crude Oil and collect the 2 Plastic produced per batch.
  6. Route the Heavy Oil Residue to a usable process or storage before it backs up.

Repeat, collect and use

Scale production by adding Refinery capacity only when Crude Oil delivery, Residue handling, and Plastic demand can all support the added rate.

Common mistakes

  • Ignoring Heavy Oil Residue until a full output blocks production.
  • Searching for Plastic deposits rather than refining Crude Oil.
  • Treating the standard map as a guide to randomized layouts.

When to stop or switch

Stop or throttle the Refinery when Plastic storage is full, Crude Oil delivery is constrained, or the Heavy Oil Residue output has no capacity.
