New Player Upgrade Route
The Conservatory Fabricator, Refinery, and CommStation, with materials gathered on Rainbow Island.
Before you go
- Access to the Conservatory Fabricator and Refinery.
- Plorts and resources required by the selected upgrade recipe.
- A route to the region containing the missing resource.
Farming steps
- Open the Fabricator and select a useful available upgrade, starting with Resource Harvester if it is not crafted.
- Write down the recipe’s required plorts and science materials.
- Feed ranch slimes and reserve the recipe’s required plorts before selling surplus.
- Use the Harvester to collect missing resources in the region where they appear.
- Deposit all recipe inputs at the Refinery and return to the Fabricator.
- Craft the upgrade when the displayed requirements are met.
- Read CommStation messages and use your newly available tools to select the next upgrade or region goal.
- The Resource Harvester is needed for resource-node materials, so prioritize it before a node-focused collection trip.
- The official guidance identifies the Jetpack and Extra Tanks as useful exploration upgrades; follow their displayed recipes and availability.
Repeat, collect and use
Upgrade crafting is repeatable when the required inputs are available. Each craft consumes its recipe inputs; progression unlocks and messages are campaign steps rather than farms.
Common mistakes
- Collecting science nodes before crafting the Harvester; install the upgrade first.
- Assuming a named upgrade has fixed recipe materials without checking the current Fabricator display; follow the in-game recipe.
- Selling plorts needed for the next craft; reserve them before market runs.
When to stop or switch
Switch to exploration or ranch development once the selected upgrade is crafted; choose the next recipe after checking current needs and unlocks.
