Before you go
- Combat equipment for the high-level Plunderer camp and heat exposure.
- A suitable pickaxe and inventory space for manual ore collection.
- Materials to repair the platform, fuel, and a tribesman if you want staffed production.
Farming steps
- Travel to the southern Volcano-region pit and assess the Plunderers and local heat before committing your worker.
- Clear the camp, then loot the site and Mine Chest before repairing anything.
- Mine exposed Iron Ore with your pickaxe and carry it back as an immediate supply.
- Inspect the Mining Platform and repair it only when you are ready to claim and support the outpost.
- Assign a tribesman to mineral extraction, supply fuel, and check the adjacent Mine Chest for output.
- Use the collected Iron Ore in your needed crafting or production recipes; keep Stone and Flint for their own construction and crafting needs.
- Treat the claimed site as an outpost requiring safety checks; reports differ on whether enemies stay gone.
- Bring heat protection or a plan for worker exposure before leaving a tribesman at this southern site.
Repeat, collect and use
Manual mining and staffed output can be revisited while the nodes or platform provide resources; check the site and chest each trip rather than assuming a fixed yield or schedule.
Common mistakes
- Repairing before looting can cost access to site loot; clear and search first.
- Assuming the platform removes enemies permanently can leave a worker exposed; revisit and verify the camp is still clear.
- Arriving without fuel or storage capacity can waste the trip; prepare the platform and inventory before assigning a worker.
When to stop or switch
Switch to another iron source when the route becomes unsafe, the site no longer produces useful output, or your current crafting need is met.
