Run a Cloud Mist Forest Coal Route
Known Coal Ore locations in Cloud Mist Forest on the base island; this is separate from the Shifting Sands DLC map.
Before you go
- A base-island save with access to Cloud Mist Forest.
- A pickaxe suitable for mining the visible Coal Ore.
- Combat supplies for threats near the chosen site.
- Inventory space and a return route to base.
Farming steps
- Open the base-island map and identify a Coal Ore marker in Cloud Mist Forest.
- Select a reachable site and confirm it is a coal marker, not a Salt Ore location or DLC marker.
- Pack a suitable pickaxe, combat supplies, and enough carrying capacity for the outing.
- Travel to the selected location and deal with threats that prevent safe mining.
- Mine the visible Coal Ore and collect the output.
- If the marker is depleted or unsafe, choose another known Cloud Mist Forest coal location.
- Return to base and store Coal Ore apart from Salt Ore.
- Use the coal for the smelting or crafting need that prompted the trip, then check your remaining stock.
- Track the Cloud Mist Forest markers you have visited; the location list does not promise a respawn schedule.
- Keep Coal Ore and Salt Ore in separate storage so you can tell which material the next trip should target.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat trips when your stored Coal Ore is short of your smelting or crafting needs. Node availability and return timing are not established as dependable.
Common mistakes
- Following a Shifting Sands marker for this base-island route; choose Cloud Mist Forest.
- Mining Salt Ore while intending to collect coal; verify the resource marker and output.
- Relying on a fixed respawn time; select another known coal marker if the chosen site is depleted.
When to stop or switch
Stop once you have enough Coal Ore for the planned use, or switch sites if the route is unsafe or the visible nodes are depleted.
