WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Ice and Hydrogen

Ice-bearing planetary surfaces, moons, and asteroid voxels. Detector signals can identify deposits beyond exposed surface ice.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Scan exposed terrain or asteroid voxels with the Ore Detector, or inspect visible ice deposits.
  2. Mark the ice location and approach with enough cargo room to carry the collected material.
  3. Mine ice with a Hand Drill or ship drills; collect the ore-like resource into inventory or ship cargo.
  4. Return to a powered O2/H2 Generator and put the ice into its input inventory.
  5. Connect generator and tanks through conveyors where needed, then check that the generator has power and the tanks can accept output.
  6. Allow gas production and monitor the connected tank inventory.
  7. Use stored hydrogen or oxygen for the relevant ship or base systems, and keep remaining ice available for another processing pass.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat mining and generator processing whenever gas reserves need replenishing. Each cycle converts collected ice into stored gas as long as power and tank capacity are available.

Common mistakes

  • Putting ice into a Refinery: load it into an O2/H2 Generator.
  • Running a generator without power: restore grid power and confirm the block is active.
  • Expecting tanks to fill without a usable connection or free capacity: inspect conveyors and tank inventory.

When to stop or switch

Stop mining when the connected tanks hold enough gas for the next trip or operation, or when cargo is full; resume when reserves fall.
