- Indoor Growbed or Plant Pot.
- Fabricator for food preparation as needed.
- Storage space for expedition provisions.
Farming steps
- Obtain a Marblemelon plant or seed during exploration and bring it back to base.
- Place an Indoor Growbed or Plant Pot near the base’s food storage area.
- Plant the Marblemelon seed or specimen in the grow structure.
- Allow it to grow before harvesting fruit.
- Collect fruit for immediate food and water needs before a long expedition.
- Retain seeds or enough of the plant stock to keep the garden established.
- Pack the harvest for the trip and return to the garden to replenish supplies.
- Keep the planter close to storage so packing a trip is quick.
- Harvest before departing rather than carrying a large supply during unrelated base work.
Repeat, collect and use
The first plant or seed is a limited acquisition, but a maintained garden allows repeated harvesting. Preserve the crop so future supply runs do not depend on finding another wild specimen.
Common mistakes
- Leaving the only specimen unplanted: establish the garden before consuming the supply.
- Planting it in a structure that cannot support it: use an Indoor Growbed or Plant Pot.
- Taking the entire crop without maintaining seeds or plant stock: keep the garden viable for later trips.
When to stop or switch
Stop harvesting when you have enough provisions for the next expedition; switch to other base tasks while the garden grows back.
