Before you go
- Reach plant patches and harvest them by hand for an initial supply.
- Planter and Thresher unlocked for crop automation.
- Seeds and a way to route different Thresher outputs, such as Filter Inserters.
Farming steps
- Harvest reachable plants and collect their output for immediate fuel or processing needs.
- Unlock Planter and Thresher as campaign progression makes them available.
- Use harvested plants to obtain the corresponding seeds through the Thresher.
- Place Planters and supply the appropriate seed and growing inputs shown in their machine panels.
- Connect Planter output to a Thresher so the crop loop can run without repeated hand harvesting.
- Route each Thresher output separately with filters or dedicated buffers; direct useful stems to the current fuel consumer.
- Keep a seed path returning to the Planters and store surplus outputs for recipes.
- The campaign guide prioritizes Kindlevine for early fuel production; expand other plant lines when their outputs have a clear use.
- A Thresher produces multiple outputs, so filtered routing prevents one item from clogging another’s destination.
Repeat, collect and use
Hand harvesting can be repeated while plants are available. The automated loop repeats through Planters and Threshers once configured; monitor seeds and output buffers.
Common mistakes
- Sending mixed Thresher output down one unfiltered belt: separate destinations for each product.
- Using all plant output for one recipe: retain seeds and reserve material for fuel or other active needs.
- Building a crop line before collecting seed: harvest and thresh plants to establish the seed supply.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding the crop line when your fuel and recipe buffers stay supplied; add capacity only when a specific consumer is short.
