Great Barrow - The Maze, when the instance is listed on the live Featured Instance board.

When Great Barrow - The Maze appears in the Featured Instance rotation, its final boss chest is the target for level-scaling classic gear. Complete the Maze, defeat the final boss, and open that chest to collect the instance reward. Update 49 distinguishes the stronger versions found in Barrow chests from the minimum item-level versions available through the classic skirmish barter vendor. That makes the chest the farming target if you want the stronger chest version; the vendor is a separate fallback with a lower floor.

How to farm

Before you go

  • Confirm Great Barrow - The Maze is currently featured.
  • Choose a party size and group appropriate for the instance.
  • Accept the Featured Instance quest before entering.
  • Have inventory room for chest rewards.
  1. Check the Featured Instance board and verify The Maze is active.
  2. Accept its Featured Instance quest and enter with an appropriate group.
  3. Progress through the Maze and complete its encounters.
  4. Defeat the final boss to unlock the final boss chest.
  5. Open the chest and inspect the level-scaling armor, weapons, or jewelry offered.
  6. Compare the item with your current equipment and keep or use the useful piece.
  7. If you need the minimum item-level classic version instead, visit the classic skirmish barter vendor and check that option separately.

Farming tips

  • Do not substitute the vendor version when the goal is the stronger chest version; the patch notes distinguish them.
  • The instance is rotation-limited, so verify availability before assembling a group specifically for this farm.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat while The Maze is featured and its chest reward is useful. The specific instance is not continuously featured.

Common mistakes

  • Stopping before the final boss: the target gear is associated with the final boss chest.
  • Assuming vendor barter and chest loot are equivalent: the vendor has the minimum item-level version.
  • Entering without checking the rotation: choose a currently featured instance if The Maze is absent.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you obtain the needed item or The Maze leaves the rotation. Use the vendor fallback only if its minimum version meets your goal.
