WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Grocers, diners and residential housing on the selected vanilla map; farms and botanists are additional possible Wheat sources.
Civilian food searching is a practical early supply activity because grocers, diners and residential buildings can contain Wheat. Loot is variable, so the route is to search appropriate buildings on your active map, carry home what you find and use seed conversion or planting to reduce future dependence on scavenging. This guide covers Wheat as the supported crop-related target, not every possible food item.
A civilian area with one or more of the named building types.
Inventory room for food and possible Wheat Seed.
A return route to a safe storage location.
Select a grocer, diner or residential cluster that exists on the current map.
Approach with an exit plan and enough inventory capacity to carry useful food home.
Search the matching buildings for Wheat and other food items you can use.
If you find Wheat Seed, preserve it as planting stock rather than consuming it accidentally.
If you find Wheat without a seed, keep enough to craft a Wheat Seed when you return.
Take the haul to base and separate seed stock from food for immediate use.
Plant the seed on a legal farm surface and retain seed from later harvests.
Farming tips
If one building type is empty, try another supported type instead of repeatedly clearing the same rooms.
Civilian food runs can be paired with a farm or botanist stop when both are near your own route.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat when food supplies are low or you still need starter Wheat. Once a crop plot is producing, use scavenging as backup rather than the only source.
Common mistakes
Assuming every grocer contains Wheat: buildings have variable loot.
Eating Wheat before reserving a seed: preserve planting stock first.
Carrying a full pack into the area: leave room for the supplies you are looking for.
When to stop or switch
Stop when basic food and a seed reserve are secured; switch to farming for recurring Wheat.
