- Potato Seed.
- A legal crop surface or a Planter.
- Storage capacity for harvested potatoes and reserve seed.
Farming steps
- Acquire Potato Seed from an available loot source or your stored crop supplies.
- Choose a flat, accessible area where the crop can be protected and harvested safely.
- Place a Planter if you cannot plant on the selected ground.
- Plant the seed on the surface and verify the crop has been placed.
- Wait for the plant to reach its harvestable state, checking it directly in game.
- Harvest and collect the potatoes before leaving the plot.
- Keep seed stock for replanting and use only the surplus harvest for food or storage.
- Keep crops near your safehouse so you can check and collect them without a long supply trip.
- Put seed stock in a separate container to reduce accidental consumption.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the grow-and-harvest loop as long as seed stock is available. Replanting makes this a renewable activity; a one-time seed without seed recovery is a limited start.
Common mistakes
- Attempting to place a potato produce item: use Potato Seed.
- Assuming the crop is ready based on elapsed time alone: check its in-game state.
- Consuming seed needed to continue: reserve it before using the harvest.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough potatoes for your current needs or your seed reserve is low; switch to collecting seed before planting another round.
